Our History

George Th. Chronopoulos was the founder of Kleva, which was established in 1974

1990

Construction of the production unit

1992

Kleva invests more than 5 million in a state-of-the-art unit to expand its production capacity for sterile products.

1997

Certification with ISO 9001 by the Austrian TUV certification body.

2002

– Establishment of a new product research and development (R&D) department.
– Initiation of collaboration with Universities & participation in research programs.

2003

Upgrading of Sales Network & Information Lines by Specialty.

2004

Verticalization and modernization of production facilities. Expansion of sterile areas & microbiology laboratory (7 million euro investment).

2005

Establishment of a Business Development Department with the aim of expanding exports
orientation through partnerships with global companies such as Actavis, Sandoz, Pliva, and Nycomed.

2007

Upgrading of all corporate structures of the company and establishment of Corporate Social
Responsibility.

2008

A second facility is acquired to meet the significant upward trend in various forms.
Theodore Chronopoulos takes over the management of the company and leads Kleva to the top five generic companies in the Greek market.

2012

The unstable Greek Economy together with the luck of confidence of the local market has diverted Kleva to an export oriented CMO.

2015

R&D department is back into the scenery and the substantial growth of CMO activities is leading to the creation of an independent Tech Transfer Department.

2018

Expansion of activities in our second manufacturing site (facility) by transferring of the entire R&D department as an independent unit along with parallel investment in scientific personnel as well as laboratory equipment.
Further to new international directives in product quality, Kleva has acquired and implemented a serialization/track and trace system with the leading serialization provider that ensures full compliance with the FMD Global guidelines.

2019

Expansion of our sterile area through the installation of a filling machine dedicated to ophthalmic products.
